I have updated some of the release documentation files in
preparation for
beta 1.
I would like to test the present snapshot searching for potential
brown-bag
bugs. Therefore I would like to suspend any commit to the
repository with the
single exception of the above files.
If you have any change you would like to have committed before
beta please
post it for discussion.
Please commit the following Mac specific patch before the beta
release. Part of this I submitted before -- the part tidying up
lyxrc.dist for Mac. See:

In fact, this part should have been applied to LyX-1.4.4; I only
noticed now that it had not been applied. (Jean-Marc: can it go in
now? ... Any reason why I shouldn't make these changes to the LyX/
Mac-1.4.4 binaries? The addition of /usr/texbin to the PATH Prefix is
necessary for newer versions of teTeX to work.)
The other part is an improved version of development/MacOSX/LyX.app/
Contents/MacOS/lyxeditor, which enables dvi viewers to communicate
with the lyxpipe for reverse dvi searches. Angus did most of the work
on it (the main task of finding the location of lyxpipe); I merely
incorporated that in the existing lyxeditor file and tested to make
sure that it works.
