I'm now workig with the new caption inset while writing a paper with many floats. In my opinion it would be a bit better usable when it can be collapsed. Do others agree?

i like to see the captions

personally i think that collapsable insets are a bit overused atm (like for floats or boxes)

matter of taste i guess...
Taste differences can be solved by making a user setup where you can
decide which kinds of insets collapse and which don't.

For me, collapsing the floats is nice. Getting the figures "right" is easy enough, and then I want to concentrate on the text. Collapsing floats helps, especially with previous versions of LyX that did not scroll sanely through large images.

I can't see the point of collapsable captions - they tend to be one-liners
for me, and get out of the way anyway if the floats collapse. But then, others
might need just that.
