I think you completely misunderstood what Jean-Marc wrote. This is not about
blaming newcomers for past faults, this is about preventing to do the same
faults again. And I see this danger, too. For example I consider your
longtable caption changes from yesterday exactly that kind of hack that we
tried to remove over the last years and that should at least have been
discussed before it went in.
