This was intentional???  I thought it was a bug, and moved immediately back
to 1.1.2, because I found it so disruptive to my normal editing.

Maybe I'm missing something.  (I did miss previous discussion of the
feature).  What are its advantages?  It seems to break the whole paradigm,
and certainly yeazs of the standard operating procedure, from where I'm 
standing.
