Well, I"ve now fixed it so that if we get an error in opening the very first
temporary file, then reLyX quits. Admittedly, this means you still can't
import from a readonly directory, but we should be able to avoid the computer
crashing. So at this point is goes from a potentially horrible bug to a bug
which is not that rare, and is definitely annoying, but has a very easy
workaround (just copy the tex file to your working directory). I'd therefore
suggest postponing the decision of exactly how to fix it, and documenting the
bug and its fix (I'll put it in reLyX/BUGS. If someone wants to put it in
lyx/BUGS, that's cool, too.)
