I am not against the principle of using something like python. The
only thing that annoys me is that, according to what I read, next
version will require:

- python

- something like t1lib to do Type1 fonts rendering, plus a bunch of
  TeX type1 fonts

- maybe the aspell library in order to get better (?) spellchecking

- and of course the latest and greatest C++ compiler, along with the
  newest libraries.

I really think that we should take care of keeping LyX requiremen as
reasonable as possible (where reasonable is defined arbitrarily ;). I
don't want LyX 1.2 to run only on machines with a bunch of memory and
up-to-date libraries for everything.
