A related solution might be to use a table to have the text and images
on the same line, like
text text text / \ / \
text text text | LyX shot | | Xdvi shot |
text text text \ / \ /

I'd rather not see it included with LyX. If it is in the same package,
it would make people feel LyX is really bloated, and a separate package
would be too complicated to install for newbies, anyway. Having it on
the home page seems a good solution.
BTW, it would be nice to make it use the same page layout than the
rest of the LyX page, with the nice background.
