What problems do you have with gettext? If LyX cannot find gettext for
some reason, it should use the one which is included in intl/ (you can
force that with --with-included-gettext).

I do not thing there are special steps needed to support
russification. Could you send me your ru.po (uuencoded) so that I can
try to make it work?
