Thanks Cameron, and by extension everyone here, I understand and support your reasoning. In this case I was just being a messenger from the marketing exercise.
The next phase for the website (content creation / migration) should be exciting, once I have a better understanding of what is involved I would like to join an osgeo-live IRC meeting (and draw on your experience in communicating with projects).
