I installed usb-modeswitch and that side is covered. As I mentioned, I was able to use it as a modem. If it creates any extra TTYs, it's a modem and not a "CD". The switching takes a few seconds, but nothing close to two minutes. BTW: I'm testing this with Debian Squeeze on a mips (loongson-f) netbook, and with kernel linux-image-2.6.35-trunk-loongson-2f (2.6.35-1~experimental.3 . That version also fixed the display in that netbook). > > I wrote a post about it (although on a different modem), maybe it could help > you: http://benhamo.org/wp/?p=1484 My phone (cheapo Samsung C5130) works just fine as a USB modem when connected through USB. Try yours. If NetworkManager fails, give wvdial a shot. It also helps debug the NetworkManager/ModemManager connection. Basically connect it, and see if any new TTYs are created. If so, then the kernel side is covered. -- Tzafrir Cohen | tzaf...@jabber.org | VIM is http://tzafrir.org.il | | a Mutt's tzaf...@cohens.org.il | | best tzaf...@debian.org | | friend _______________________________________________ Linux-il mailing list Linux-il@cs.huji.ac.il http://mailman.cs.huji.ac.il/mailman/listinfo/linux-il
