I agree. I would also like to mention that opt-out is considered by many, besides being a nuisance, a well-known way for spammers to sort out real, live addresses from the huge heap of junk they get from the address-collectors. So I, personally, never opt-out. I simply live with it. I suggest to folks like software.co.il to advertize themselves *very* politely (e.g. 1-2 times a year) on linux-il, and if they think there are people here that will want to subscribe to some mailing list of theirs, to write that *once* in a letter to linux-il, not to anyone personally. I do not think that software.co.il did a terrible thing, though. The main reason I decided to reply is in order to prevent worse things from less considerate companies in the future.
