Hi all! I recently had to upgrade my computer. I re-installed Mandrake 9.1 on it. Everything except the sound works great, and I can use X11 and connect to the Internet. However, I have problems with the sound.
I have an on-board AC'97 card. I set all the mixer settings to near-maximal volume, and the apps actually play sound (xmms displays these waveforms), but no sound is heard. The card is on-board and works perfectly fine in Windows 98'. Here are some files and settings: <<< shlomi:~# aumix -q vol 0, 100, P pcm 100, 100 speaker 0, 0 line 100, 100, P mic 0, 0, R cd 100, 100, P igain 0, 0 line1 0, 0, P phin 0, 0, P video 100, 100, P shlomi:/# cat /proc/asound/cards 0 [82901EBICH5 ]: ICH - Intel 82901EB-ICH5 Intel 82901EB-ICH5 at 0xfebff800, irq 17 shlomi:/# cat /proc/asound/devices 0: [0- 0]: ctl 17: [0- 1]: digital audio playback 16: [0- 0]: digital audio playback 24: [0- 0]: digital audio capture 33: : timer shlomi:/# cat /proc/asound/pcm 00-00: Intel ICH : Intel 82901EB-ICH5 : playback 1 : capture 1 00-01: Intel ICH - IEC958 : Intel 82901EB-ICH5 - IEC958 : playback 1 shlomi:/# cat /proc/asound/version Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 0.9.0rc8.
