Yes. One of them is from the distribution (RH 6.1), and one sits on
/usr/local/ 

The question remains: HOW do I tell it to compile with the new 2.95.2
and not the old version.

I cannot remove the old one since kernel 2.3.25+ won't compile yet with
GCC 2.95.2

Well, to tell the truth - it's an EARLY beta, the damn thing doesn't
even installs the swap partition in /etc/fstab. It exactly the same as
Caldera OpenLinux 2.3 - but with Samba & everything (but NO specific
programs to use them). It also automatically installs my_sql etc..
