Heh.  This is a known problem, and the OCR part is very, very
difficult. It also has nothing to do with lilypond.


There are a number of commercial products that, given a perfect representation of a score, convert it to perfect musicXML - so it can't be that hard. It may simply be that the OS community do not generally have these skills.
