Thanks. That points to a deadlock between processes, somewhere deep into macOS's native platform GUI libraries. Given that and how similar the report https://github.com/ronaldoussoren/py2app/issues/340 is to the problem at hand, I'm pretty sure the cause I identified is the correct one.
