I have used Lilypond very happily for many years on Apple laptops (2.12.3, 2.18.2). My latest computer is a MacBook Air running OS Ventura 13.4.1 with M2. I understood I needed a 64 bit version of Lilypond, downloaded 2.20.0 August 2022, and ran it successfully for 12 months till 1st August 2023. It then stopped working and said I had hit a bug. I discarded the installation and re-clicked the *.tar , placed the file in applications. But again there was a bug. I downloaded 2.24.1 but find it is too complicated. There is no single file that I can double-click to run. I did manage to put a previously written amaryllis.ly <http://amaryllis.ly/> file into a file with all the bin files and did get a pdf but this is no good.
