This is a real blow, and I'm probably not the only one who had been fearing this news for quite some time. Thank you very much for relaying the news! I met Urs only twice, first at the 2020 Salzburg conference that he organised with Werner (my own contributions were significantly smaller), and then shortly after at a conference in Basel. When I think of him, both the words "kindness" and "brilliance" come to mind, and I'd like to remember him as I got to know him then. Sadly, several factors caused him to withdraw from the LilyPond community later that year. git --shortlog --author=Urs shows 70 commits to LilyPond and literally hundreds of substantial commits to Frescobaldi. I'd propose that there should be a commemorative release of at least one of the projects. Given that both projects are very much intertwined and LilyPond receives more regular updates, I think Urs deserves to have a LilyPond stable release named after him - given that he was also one of the most prolific advocates of real-world use of LilyPond.
