I never knew the circumstances of Urs' sudden departure from the project, but I have always regretted it. We met in London several years ago, when Urs was on an orchestra tour, and he was learned, helpful and approachable. I still remember his flicker of a wry smile when I made an offhand remark about needing an IQ of 150 to understand something in lilypond. OpenLilyLib has been really helpful to me on a number of occasions, and Urs' beautiful editions of Oskar Fried remain a performance ambition; I hope they will not now fade into obscurity.
