FWIW, in German there are two words "Notenwert" (note value) and "Dauer" (duration). I don't want to get into this discussion, but could the term "note value" help? It seems to exist in English (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Note_value).
note value = length of a note in visible note representation =?= ly:duration duration = lenght of a time interval =?= music length If this construct of (log of duration, optional dots, scaling) would be called note value, "music length" could be called duration, couldn't it? Cheers, Joram
