In case there is only a very small difference, say, missing staccato
dots, the red/green difference is probably not strong enough (if at
all, I would use the brightest red and green to make the differences
as visible as possible).  On the other hand, the blinking comparison
functionality helps a lot, and which you should definitely support.

What might be helpful is to provide a 'halo' around changed pixels so
that the attention is immediately drawn to the right spot.
