"servant".
Ah yes, people like me. People who confuse concepts. People who are
not as brilliant as yourself.
You are illustrating my point exactly, Mr. Kastrup.
You presume to know who I am, what I do, and what my motivations are,
and you insult in your opening sentence ...
Add to that the rather open insinuation that programmers are inferior
beings that should be naturally serving their "normal" superiors, and
you are placing yourself in a position where hypocrisy is the
overwhelming message.
No, you insinuated that totally mucked-up interpretation yourself,
friend. I happen to be a programmer.
Anyway, your rephrase is not to the point. If you insist on being
rude
and off-putting (namely a "Complete A-Hole"),
No, I am not being rude and off putting by giving you my
interpretation of a document (from a developer's point of view, mind
you) which appears to be written specifically to instruct people who
would normally expect other people to be polite to buy into the idea
that programmers are on some other level which excuses them from the
obligation to be polite, e.g. gives them a license to be complete a-
holes.
you could at least reflect
the essence by paraphrasing this "How to address Complete A-Holes
if you
intend to make them do work for you".
I don't make Lilypond developers work for me. I don't even use
Lilypond. I am a music software developer, with my own projects to
occupy me, who wants to keep abreast of what the Lilypond team is up
to. I have *never* asked a Lilypond developer to do anything for me
for free. *I have offered to hire* Lilypond developers in the past to
do specific things I would like to have Lilypond do, and those
developers have told me they are too busy, which is fine.
But your last point is very funny, and relevant for those people who
*do* expect developers (who may or may not act like a-holes) to do
everything for free. I sure don't. Never have.
