Indeed, but this essay by a hacker helped me understand why responses
came back the way they did. I note also that since the moment I agreed
to help with GDP more than a year ago, I have never gotten a single rude
comment from Graham (short, direct, to-the-point, yes, but not rude),
which goes to show how he appreciates contributors, even if he has to
help them learn how to contribute (he and Carl and the git gurus have
been very patient with me--thanks guys).
The problem on this thread, as I see it, was that it started as a
drive-by shooting and it got an appropriate response from the would-be
victims, especially since it came to the devel list and not the user,
this response has to be expected. It's probably run its course by now...
