--- Comment #8 from ady <[email protected]> --- (In reply to Colin from comment #5) > Ady, That's unkind;), it was never a "screw-up". The working sheet I > plagiarised was "extended" to allow the insertion of the additional > analytical features of the table manipulation - to demonstrate to any tester > how their potential playground metrics should react to any changes made. I just gave a typical generic example of reasons for users to UNDO / REDO; there are certainly others. "Oh, apparently I made a mistake, let's undo and I'll get everything corrected". There is an over-expectation regarding UNDO. Here is what frequently happens. Users ask to make Calc "smarter" for their use case. Several independent actions are then put together, in order to "click one time and have all these things easily accessible, or even happening at once". Then other users react and claim that things should work differently, and someone additionally complains that one UNDO action is only undoing one part of the whole bunch of things that are no longer so independent as they used to be. That is in addition to actual issues / bugs / limitations related to UNDO itself, instead of a consequence of bringing together things that should be considered as multiple independent actions. With no intention to be accurate, this is, more or less, how this usually happens, as a generic hypothetical example. So, filtering used to be one thing, and sorting used to be another thing. "The Standard Filter is too complicated, can we have a simpler in-place filter?". "Now that we have this simpler basic uncomplicated AutoFilter, could we have the possibility of sorting right there, instead of using the other independent dialog that is located two inches above in the classic menu?". "The simpler basic AutoFilter works on current cell's content; could we filter by ranges of values, top10/bottom10, and other non-content characteristics such as background color?". "The AutoFilter possibilities are great, but sometimes I find out that I need more-complicated filters, could we have something like that added?". And now we have: "Oh, a direct access to the good old Standard Filter was added to the AutoFilter, so there is no need for some additional area as other Filter possibilities require, but could we make the simple basic AutoFilter merge with the Standard Filter?". Maybe someone will take the task. I personally think that there are other basic topics that should deserve the resources much more than this one, being Conditional Formatting one of those. > > > I am closing this ticket as NAB. Please next time try a forum such as > > <https://ask.libreoffice.org>. > > That's definitely your pay-grade There is no pay-grade. Instead of you checking your case with other users at <https://ask.libreoffice.org> that might be willing to help you either solve your problem, or help you understand how Calc works (or even suggest for users to read something, omg!), you skip that part of a normal logical procedure and open a ticket without actually reporting a bug; you just freely describe what you did and say that the result did not match your expectations. You mentioned that you did not understand what was happening; then you should had double-checked the most basic things (such as the CF that you are using) and then use a forum for help. Users, out of our own kindness, will help you find out whether there is really a bug to file, or there is just something else going on. Other users, on their own time and their own resources, are using those resources – their own, with no personal gain in any way – in order to try to improve LibreOffice in this bug tracker. You did not even check the conditional format of your case, much less presented a meaningful bug report. It is easy to waste the time and resources of others. That, is unkind. The reason I closed this ticket as not-a-bug is because there is nothing here that could be taken as a valid useful bug report, and every topic described in this ticket is currently working as it is designed / supposed to (even though your expectations were different). Multiple mixed issues, unclear disorganized steps, erroneous conditions and assumptions. Even the potential suggestion to change the way the AutoFilter features are currently working is a tangential issue in this ticket (that was supposed to be one bug report), and no developer nor user should waste so much time reading this whole "report", just to eventually grasp the idea of an enhancement request of some form. Filing actual bug reports in this bug tracker that can be replicated is appreciated. Other experiences are better placed elsewhere. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
