Hi mate, How about you simply compare lftp to ncftp and some built-in ftp programs in whatever OS you use. That way lftp will (ofcourse) look way superior and you should have the managements blessings instantly.
I cannot see any reason as to find a _commercial_ product doing about the same as lftp (and most likely worse).
