It turns out that the glade-support has only been written to work against Expat. Upstream are planning on rewriting it though, so that it can use libxml2 instead (see the last paragraph of http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-gnu-utils/2010-05/msg00046.html). Once that rewrite has been done, we'd migrate libxml2 from BLFS to LFS and presumably push expat back into BLFS.
