Whether or not you run into trouble with package users doesn't depend so much on your LFS-building experience as it depends on the kind of software you want to install. In the years that I've been using the hint I don't remember one serious problem. > It is the cause of many user issues reported in the support > lists and #lfs-support IRC channel. I don't know about the IRC channel but w.r.t (b)lfs-support I cannot understand that statement. I read those lists and I'm not seeing many package user related questions. I don't receive a lot of feedback/questions regarding the hint at all. So from my perspective it looks like either not many people use it or they use it and don't have trouble with it. Can you provide some pointers to these "many user issues" you're talking about? I'd really like to know what kind of trouble people have with the hint. And feel free to send people to me when they have trouble with the hint and you can't help them.
