This is my last post on this issue, like I've said I'm tired of all this
crap. This is my opinion. I know a lot of people feel the same way I do
about this, and would love to see the projects unified or at least some
type of join effort between them.
The bottom line is that LFS should of not created a new package. They
should contacted CLFS team and worked together, which was the original
plan way back when 2.6.15 was released. As of approx. 1 week ago a new
packages was created for LFS. For people who wanted to see the projects
merged, this surprised a lot of us. People were figuring when they saw
this creation going into the svn it was a collaborative development
between the two teams. Obviously this is not the case.
Now people are saying, why can't CLFS use the package the LFS uses. My
response is that currently the LFS development team, wants to work
independent and so does the CLFS team, neither team is willing to
collaborate with each other. So any attempt to get this teams merged in
the future has just been halted, until both teams can work together and
be professional to each other.
I have included many links with issues that are between the projects and
people trying to get them solved. But again, discussion happens and no
action. I think it's best right now that the projects continue on in
there on respective directions. CLFS is not forcing LFS to change
things, we have to be bleeding edge in CLFS to support some of the
architectures we do. LFS is pretty much a package updates these days,
with support added for UTF-8 and modern udev rules.
