Hello,
There has been a high amount of traffic related to the chroot
environment of chapter 6.
It would be great if we could tie people down, force their eyelids
open, and make them read! However, that would probably be torture. We
probably do not condone torture.
"Remember that if for any reason you stop working on the LFS system
and start
again later, it is important to check that these file systems are
mounted again before entering
the chroot environment."
People still miss this. Does anyone know if bold text in the book
helps people pick out
important comments? Maybe we need to do something to make that part
stand out. Also, that part is missing something. The directory /dev
needs to be populated, too. Grub will want to communicate to block
devices sometime in the future.
Is it a good idea to include something about populating dev in that
part, too?
Most of this I notice when bumming around in #LFS-Support on the
linuxfromscratch IRC server.
Sincerely,
William
