Bill, and Tim. what I am suggesting is to make our own machines. Using linear rail/ Amazon there would not be a lot of craftsmanship needed. A headstock and tailstock and carriage assembly, plus some small parts like angle brackets would all that would be needed to make this machine. And for the gears, bike chain and gears could be an easy way to get the pitches we want, plus a leadscrew. I dont know much about CNC, but would it be hard to make a simple program for a small machine like this? servo motors are cheap, gearing although old school is much harder to make today. Could it be done at a reasonable price? What would be the best way to make this type of small machine????
