hi all, it's been around 3 yrs since i was last on the list. good to see the usual suspects are still here. not sure how many of you read it but here's a c&p from teamtalk's leeds forum (today)...
Mikernick, Leeds United fan. Posted 14/01/2007 @ 11:34 Met up with Joel griffiths after the Perth Glory Newcastle game in Australia. He claims that Leeds players were told that gaining promotion via the playoffs was not an option due to the financial situation at the club. The offer of a 3 year contract was Blackwell's reward to ensure that Leeds didn't gain promotion via the playoffs adn the offer of a $5m transfer kitty in the summer. Ken Bates had apparently sought local investment for these monies, however, the benefactor pulled out due extremely poor season ticket sales and an alleged dressing room split orchestrated by senior including gregan, butler and stone. The livermore transfer was cancelled due to lack of funds and the sale of hulse followed to raise much needed funds. Incidently, Joel Griffiths said many leeds players believe that Leeds United are cursed following the incident with Bowyer,Woodgate and Sarfraz Najieb. The curse relates to the club and the players invlved. In addition, many players view the fans as glory hunters that have deserted the club at a time of need. In response the players are not committed and don't care about the clubs future. Finally, Griffiths scored 2 excellent goals in a superb individual display. *************** might be complete bo11ox, who knows. bottom line is something stinks at LUFC and this season, for various reasons, has a very similar feeling to when we were relegated from the Prem. rich _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger!
