Hi, IMHO A football club reduces prices not only to attract a bigger crowd for one match, but to impress that crowd during that match to such an extent that they believe that it is worthwhile to come back to the next FULL PRICED game.
Consider the following: 1. Reducing prices has a negative affect on your loyal base of support, who willingly pay full price, or are season ticket holders. You do not want to pi55 off your loyal supporters. 2. Reducing the price has to be timed in conjunction with a game which the club has a more than 50/50 chance of winning, otherwise, the extra crowd you have attracted in by reducing prices, will not see that it is such an attractive option if the team gets beaten, and therefore may not come back for the next game. 3. Reducing ticket prices enables your loyal support to attend at a fraction of the price, when since they are loyal, they are willing to give you full price anyway. Why risk it? 4. Currently LUFC do not look likely to have a better than 50/50 chance of winning any game. Would playing in front of an extra 10,000 or so make our team any better? So, based on these considerations (and there may be others) what would you do if you were in Cuddly Kens boots? I personally think that these schemes are only short term gimics, crowds increase when teams are playing attractive and successful football. Some chance eh!
