Living in Hull, I've chatted to quite a few Hull fans about the reduced prices. Quite rightly the season ticket holders were a bit pi55ed off to say the least. Others reckoned it was a great thing and the extra crowds certainly spurred the team on to produce a great result against Cardiff.
I'm in the "give-it-a-go" camp. I agree with others when they say that you can't quantify the benefits a larger crowd brings. It's no just revenue, it's motivation for the team which should produce points that could provide survival (or promotion for some). Also, encouraging youngsters to come should be high - when my generation and the ones near me stop going there's gonna be hardly anyone left. I think I'm about the average age for a Leeds fan (maybe a little bit older) at 48. It's been the same since I was about 18. I've also been taking loads of stick regarding the forthcoming match against Hull. A lot of "friendly" banter (and not-so-friendly) has been directed at me in my local pubs. In years gone by they've been quiet cos they feared a defeat - I think now they genuinley believe they're gonna beat us on Saturday! I'm dreading it!! I usually come to the Leeds matches from Hull via the train so I can have a few pints afterwards in Leeds, I'm thinking twice about it this Saturday. I've been "warned" that the service trains are gonna be full off Hull - not a nice prospect!!
