I think the key component that analysis misses Dave (aside from the longer term
benefits of getting kids coming to come and in the habit of going to see and
support Leeds, even in the dark times) is whether there is a correlation
between getting more people in, generating more atmosphere and getting better
results.

Thus another 5 or 10k on the attendance could be argued to get you 10 more
points over the season, which can be the difference between relegation and
staying up, or mid table and a play off push. The trouble with that of course
is it is an entirely unquantifiable and intangible thing - how can you
demonstrate the extra bodies would generate the atmosphere and would get you
the points? Ken would rather go with the proven cash in pocket from high prices
rather than conducting experiments with his cash flow.

Subject: Re: [LU] Ticket prices

If KB has looked at Hull (or Leicester who did similar I believe) the only
figure that will interest him is "How much money did they make"
It is all very well putting a couple of thousand on the gate at reduced
prices but for us to make the same amount of cash for you and your family at £5
each, on the figures you have given, we would need to attract an EXTRA 13+
fans in -ie 17/18 instead of 4 !! And the Carling Cup seemed to show that
certainly at £10 per adult the extra fans will still not turn up.
Yes, he will need to see if the extra fans brought in extra revenue via
merchandise - pies, programmes etc offset against extra police and stewarding
costs etc !

Like everyone else I would love to see ER full again (especailly starting
Saturday with a massive game for us !) and I do feel sorry for those who
genuinely cannot afford to go, but at the end of the day we are a business and
it is all about "maximising our revenue stream" or some such, and the cold hard
fact is that 10,000 paying £25 brings in a lot more cash than 30,000 at £5 per
head !!!!

So fans can moan and whinge all they want on here or waccoe ( at least one
thread a day on this subject) but Bates will only reduce prices if he is
convinced that it will bring more money in

Do you think Ken "I've got a secret mission to destroy Leeds United"
Bates will have looked at the full crowd at the KC Stadium in Hull on
Saturday and thought 'I'd love to see Elland Road full of Leeds fans and
the side winning 4-1, I'll give that fiver-a-ticket scheme go"? This
would enable the likes of me to pay 20 quid instead of 86 quid for two
kids and two adults to see us play.
