All I am saying is that at Wolves he had little or no money to spend
(despite some being there) and that isn't necessarily going to be the case
here.  He will get *some* money to spend, he would have a fair amount of
'decent' players he could offload to raise finance if he didn't fancy them
too.

Anyhow, if he was being told by Bates that there will be no money then yes,
the question "why would he come to Leeds" is a valid one.  In those
circumstances though any job is better than no job, so it shouldn't be
surprising if managers go to clubs even if they don't expect much in the way
of ambition or financial backing in the transfer market.  McCarthy being a
case in point.

However, if there is mileage in the rumours and Hoddle has been approached
and is interested then that would suggest (to me) he is happy with any
assurances from KB with regards funding rather than just wanting a job
again.

Ultimately Bates wants a premiership side (for glory or for onward sale),
and there ain't no way that's going to happen unless funds are made
available, from whatever source that may be.
