Birmingham, Sunderland and The Baggies have, essentially, the same squads
they had last season. Birmingham (I believe) have written into players
contracts that relegation means their wages will reduce to Chamionship
level (Now that IS good management!) and so far they've sold Heskey (For
5.5Mill) Pennant (For 6.8Mill for goodness sake!) and have the parachute
payments plus a board that runs it very well. they still have the
financial clout to buy and buy well. The Baggies haven'tsold much and hung
on to key players (The Keeper, Davies and most of their midfield)
Sunderland, despite being an embarrasment in the Premier League still have
a stronger squad (On paper I admit) than the one that romped away with the
Championship two seasons ago. Southampton now have a very good manager in
charge and have invested the Walcott money well, Derby have invested well
and (unfortunately) now have that tosser Davies in charge, who WILL do
something with them, Coventry have hung on to key players and invested
well, as have Norwich and Leicester (Who hit form at the back end of the
season with the new guy in charge). IMHO Ourselves, Preston and Palace all
start this season in a weaker position than the one we were in at the
start of last season
