Owen has been overrated almost entirely throughout his career in my opinion.
He has always had the touch of a rapist, but in olden days it actually worked to his advantage because he was quick to the random new location of the ball. He never was a natural finisher like Fowler, Wright, Lineker etc. If Fowler had Owen's pace he would have been a revelation at international level. Having said that he did have a bit of a purple patch in his career, goal vs Argentina and all that. I don't think he is good enough to be an automatic pick straight after injury, unlike Rooney who is. Maybe England should try Lennon up front on his own instead of Owen? He has the pace and the ball control to do it. > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:leedslist- > [EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of damian.walsh > Sent: 31 May 2006 18:07 > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [LU] NON LU: gerrard a diver? > > Apart from Hargreaves obviously. > > Last night showed how overrated Owen is.
