Owen has been overrated almost entirely throughout his career in my

He has always had the touch of a rapist, but in olden days it actually
worked to his advantage because he was quick to the random new location of
the ball.
He never was a natural finisher like Fowler, Wright, Lineker etc. If
Fowler
had Owen's pace he would have been a revelation at international level.
Having said that he did have a bit of a purple patch in his career, goal
vs
Argentina and all that.
I don't think he is good enough to be an automatic pick straight after
injury, unlike Rooney who is.
Maybe England should try Lennon up front on his own instead of Owen? He
has
the pace and the ball control to do it.
