Ok, lets boil the argument right down to the basics; 1)Do you think that KB had much in the way of choice about who he signed when we first got relegated, and then when Milner was sold under his nose? Do you think he should/could have got better players then?
2)Even if you concede the first season was always going to be difficult attracting players to the club, do you think he should/could have then put together his final/ideal side in the one summer he had to do it? In other words, do you accept or not that there needed to be a period of transition from decimated/relegated team, to one that will win the championship? I think this is where the ultimate difference of opinion lies. For what its worth I think last season was by necessity a transitional side, hence my expectations of top6 finish.
