Not the point is it. You said noone else had spent the kind of money we had done on strikers. You were wrong.
Johnston is on the England stand-by squad, and Morrison is a ROI current international forward. We have the Northern Ireland forward. No disrespect but Northern Ireland are the worst team of all the home nations and ROI. On paper Crystal Palace have a better strikeforce than we do, spent as much (if not more) money on strikers last season whilst keeping a £8.5mil rated striker, and they finished below us. They have one of THE most business savvy chairmen you can get and they finished below us. Their chairman wasnt going to get rid of Dowie, despite having all that financial support, despite having only come down from the prem the season before, and they finished below us. How do you rate Dowie as a manager? Better or worse than Blackwell? If you were a Crystal Palace supporter last season, having kept Johnston and spent £2m on Morrison, what would have been your minimum expectations, given the utter shiteness of the league? I really dont understand what you are still moaning about. It was clear from before the start of last season that Blackwell would not get sacked - regardless of the entertainment value - if he met Bates' public expectation of top 10 finish. He was never going to be sacked, no matter how much you moaned about it. He is never going to be sacked before the season starts, no matter how much you moan about him. No matter how much you go on about how shit we were last season, we did as well or better than MOST of us hoped or expected. We are ALL pissed off with the performance and result of the playoff final. But for MOST of us, a win there would have been a total bonus in terms of the football season. Like all bonuses, you shouldnt expect them to happen because they are, by definition, a bonus. So, to summarise, regardless of how you try and paint it, most of us had expectations for last season which we believed were realistic, and those expectations were met. Now the good news for you - MOST of us have now raised our expectations to almost your level. We all expect promotion. We all expect top 3. We all hope to win the league. We all expect the team to be as transformed in terms of style, as it was this season from last - in other words we expect decent/attractive football. If that doesnt happen Blackwell will, and should be, sacked. If we aren't up there by xmas he will probably be sacked then. There are bound to be specific differences of opinion as the season unfolds, but you will find that MOST people will be much more critical if things dont go well. Its what MOST of us have expected/said all along. We arent all coming round to your point of view, we have been on the journey from relegation to promotion. You, on the other hand, have been standing there waiting for 2 years! > -----Original Message----- > From: Richard Walker [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: 31 May 2006 13:54 > To: Mark Humphries > Cc: [email protected] > Subject: RE: [LU] He might just have learnt something > > > > Crystal Palace bought Morrison for £2m last august. > > So ?
