When I got up this morning, it did briefly cross my mind that we may be looking at a repeat of the Coca-Cola cup final today, and although the performance wasn't quite in that category, it was of a similar ilk.

After ten minutes the writing was on the wall. Very little belief, a complete inability to defend set pieces (Watford found us out there) and frankly very little promise of inspiration from anywhere. Healy is the only player that I feel has the ability to spark something out of nothing. Frankly, I was delighted to be only one down at half-time.

Yes we got a little unlucky with the second goal, and yes we should have had a penalty, but Watford were significantly better than us on the day. I think it is true to say they were actually not that much better than us over the course of a season, but today the better team strolled it.

It's difficult to know where to go from here. I think we are still several players short of being good enough to go up, and we may be looking at the end of the road (or at least very close to it) for Gregan, Butler, Kelly, Sullivan, Miller, Bakke and a few others. Blackwell got us this far it's true, but the man is certainly not an inspirational character.

Based on our performance today, I don't begrudge Watford anything. I think we are a long way from where we need to be.

When do the fixtures come out? Fifty-two points might be enough to stay up next year.
