The system waits to ring until it has caller ID information to display...the CO sends this as FSK data between the first and second ring.
If the customer doesn't know the first ring ever occurred, what's the difference? If you have single line equipment connected ahead of the KSU (unless it an alarm, TIVO, satellite receiver, etc.) you are missing out on many features that the system can offer. I do (DID) mostly TD stuff, but it's my understanding that the TA824 handles SLT's very nicely...INCLUDING passing CID info to industry standard SLT's..
