Go to www.blackbox.com I used a serial line extender. It is what I used for
a serial printer connection to an SMDR port. Total distance was about 275
feet and I used an existing single-pair off the 50-pair cable, that BTW goes
underground and is subject to water intrusion (they are too cheap to remove
concrete so I can run a new pipe!)...
