The good news, the non-blinking power light means that it has proper
communication with the ksu.
But you should be able to press enter and have menu option appear on the
screen.
If you saw the start-up prompts on the screen, then I would expect the cable
was ok as-is.

You may want to check your terminal settings as well.
Also, you did not mention what type (and version) of ksu you have (that can
make a difference in the resulting advice).
Hopefully someone else may go into some more detail for you.
