A) No, I'm not in the phone bizness. I do install systems for non-profits when asked. This case is a building a friend lives in. My only ax to grind is the best answer for him.
B) I'm strongly inclined toward systems with a POTS set in each unit. C) Possible ways of doing this: 1) Viking 3000 + Viking 1700 door phone 2) Valcom per Carl, + 1700 3) Old Panasonic + 1700 1) will share existing copper & set if there. (Several owners do NOT have wireline, but that's OK with this...) 2/3 will need more rewiring, to use the intercom wiring. Plus to use any old POTS set, 2 will need a buzzer on 2nd pair, in the wallplate, and a DTMF decoder for opening. 3) will need the decoder. Both will require some hack to keep the door phone from dialing the decoder. [Not hard]. The only real rub with 1) is there are 14 units; so we'd need two 3000's. BUT, 2 units have direct outside doors, so they really do not need to be included. One last question The VIKING 1700 lacks a spiffy electronic directory. Anyone know another panel door phone with such? -- A host is a host from coast to [EMAIL PROTECTED] & no one will talk to a host that's close........[v].(301) 56-LINUX Unless the host (that isn't close).........................pob 1433 is busy, hung or dead....................................20915-1433 _________________________________________________________________ KX-T Mailing list --- http://kxthelp.com/ Subscription changes: http://kxthelp.com/mailman/listinfo/kxt
