Spend the $ 270. Avoid endless grief and complaints. Eons ago, people used their phones just for voice. Now, much of the use is for FAX and modem. Do you REALLY want to deal with complaints about interrupted FAXes when someone rings the doorbell? Or modems that used to connect at 51K, but now only get 44K? (I've got an alarm system that does that.)
