Scott & KXT community,
Although, not certified for Digital, I HAVE taken Panasonic class for
analog, and this VM is covered as well. I do not, however, recall any class
time devoted to what you should do after a VM unit fails, is sent back to
Panasonic, and returned in the same condition. I DO know about the rotary,
and it's common uses. This is not a common situation. The system was NOT
flawed when in stalled, and performed perfectly, for a time. Panason had
already determined that the HDD was bad. Now, I understand that they may not
have positively identified the problem, and may have take my diagnosis as
fact, and swapped the drive to save time. In either case, it was obviously
not tested before leaving Atlanta.

Panasonic school is $500.00 well spent. It cover the KX-TD308, 816,
1232 and TVS voice mail. The reason no one will answer you, is for the
fact you don't even know about the dip/rotary switch. Panasonic will
drive the message home about that one.
Please take the class. Many customers think the equipment is flawed
when its incorrectly installed by an installer who doesn't know the
system. I could go on but....................

I posted a previous version of this and nobody replied with an answer. I
would appreciate more feedback if you know ANYHTING about this problem.
Here's the scenario:

- client complained that VM had crashed
- I had them power cycle, and things were fine
- The next week, same thing, and no recovery through power cycling
- Connected w/ HyperTerm, and got message on boot that no system
was found.
- Sent into Panasonic, and they replaced HDD.
- Re-Installed, connected, and same message.
- Called Panasonic, and in a condescending voice, the tech asked,
"Didn't
you turn the rotary switch to 5?"
- Went back, turned rotary to 5, booted up, and same thing.

If anyone has gone through this, I would apprecite any info you may be
able to lend. I don't know if this is something I should be worried
about fixing, or if I should box it up and send it back to Panasonic.

Thanks,
