In Australia CASA ( civil Aviation Safety Authority ) would not allow ( in the early days of building) the 4 bolts per WAF. The WAF has a solid spacers between each pair and a single 3/8” minimum bolt. ( also we do not use the aft 2” of the CoG. So in my opinion the WAF MUST be bolted, the pins would not be safe

  I have done some digging on the KR2 folding wings and while the actual folding mechanism is reasonably easy (See Philip's web link); the quick and safe detach and reattach the WAF bolts has been the challenge.  True I can simply spend an age detaching and reattaching the wings and securing the WAF bolt's but to me, that defeats the purpose of folding wings.  My use case is to trailer-hangar my KR2 (ZS-VVT) for ease of storage and potentially the flexibility of storing at home.

I am no engineer so there may be a simple solution that I am unable to see.

The 2 scenario's I have researched:

1) If it were possible to simply remove the lower WAF bolts (for example, a secure pin & cotter-pin like the KitFox and others) and rotate upwards that would be great.  The challenge I am unable to overcome is the top forward and aft WAF's pivot angles do not align sufficiently to allow for a hinge motion.  Tilting the spar's to align them may be an option to align the hinge movement but not feasible for exiting KR2's and I have no idea of what doing so will do to the design, performance and most importantly safety of the KR2.  Tilting the spars is a radical deviation from the plans.  Personally, tilting the spar is not viable.

2) A potentially more viable solution is replacing the WAF bolts with pins enabling you to rapidly remove all the WAF bolts, pull the wing out a little to clear the WAF brackets and rotate the wings up & backward (like Philip's Folding wing link shows).  This would be ideal for trailering & reducing hangar space.  The challenge I see is doing so without compromising safety.  Replacing the WAF bolts with a hitch-pin and cotter-pin (lynch-pin?) combination for rapid attach & detach is very easy but doing so without compromising integrity and safety of the wing is paramount and where I ran afowl of my lack of expertise.

If anyone has a solution, I would be most interested!

I have been talking with badbob0007 (Bob Johnson) and we both would 
like the ability to fold our wings up and directly over the top of the 
canopy for transport.
This is a basic idea on a double pivot design so the wing can have 
enough clearance to fold.
