At this point I personally won't fly a Corvair without the deep seats 
installed.  To me it's just another ticking timebomb.  There is no way to tell 
if or when it will happen.  These heads have been through so many heat cycles 
since 1965 I am sure the metallurgy has changed at least a little.  The SPA 
heads already come with the deep seats installed so that is probably the route 
I will take.  Staking the seats is an unknown at this point.  Like most things 
in aviation it boils down to risk.  I've been lucky so now I am becoming more 
conservative in my approach to these types of issues.  At my wake I don't want 
it said that I died what I loved doing...
