Staking the seats may work on other seats, but Corvair folks say it's a
bad idea, and a debunked myth. To my knowledge, dropped seats in
Corvair engines are pretty rare, even in airplane use, although 140HP
heads are more prone to it (which is why we don't fly them). Craig's
and Mark Jones' are the only dropped seats I know of, not that I'm the
wizard of all Corvair engine failures. The process for replacing valve
seats is not trivial, and probably not something your local speed shop
can do, although I could be wrong. Personally if "it ain't broke, I
wouldn't fix it". But then I've had a lot of in-flight engine
failures, so you might not want to believe a word I say. If you just
