No offense to anyone but I'm a bit leery of a "work group" approach. I
see that as "how to lose friends and make enemies". I think this whole
things could be done as cleanly and as quick as possible if plans are
developed for a basic KR2S type aircraft with the basic, already agreed
to upgrades, wider fuselage for example, and then with the whole thing
being digital, side bar options that builders have done that have been
proven to work in each of the different areas. For example, engines
with different "folders / files" for the different options and maybe
links to builder sites that have used that engine. Another example
would be the wings. I built mine to plans with single layer of glass
behind main spar and that is quite adequate. A sidebar link could be
included showing how Mark used a double layer. Builders could
incorporate any / all / none of these options as they wish. Lets start
with a basic design and just list the options. Builders could judge the
benefit of the options to them.
Another area, control systems. I used the basic cable system
throughout while others used push / pull rods. I think cables would be
the simplest system to build and is quite adequate and would be in the
plans. A side bar of push rods could be included as an option. Flaps,
split or otherwise, or belly board? Belly board simplest but flaps and
option. See how complicated we could make this. Keep it simple,
upgrades optional.......
